POLYTHESE®, POLYMAILLE®, POLYPATCH® : a unique coating that contains no chemical cross-linking agents, such as formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, isocyanate … (03/10/2005)

The collagen cross-linking process used by the Laboratoires PEROUSE in all its textile prostheses (POLYTHESE®, POLYMAILLE®, POLYPATCH®) employs no chemical agents such as formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde or carbodiimide.
The method developed by the Laboratoires PEROUSE is a unique technique that enables the automatic cross-linking (CXE®) of collagen between oxidised saccharide units and the amines of lysine residues.

This method ensures optimal tolerance of implanted textile prostheses. Indeed, through the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the WHO has officially classed formaldehyde as carcinogenic for humans (cf: press release of the IARC, dated 15/06/2004).

In addition, the cytotoxicity of glutaraldehyde has been established and studied in relation to certain implantable medical devices.

The absence of formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde in the Laboratoires PEROUSE's prostheses was confirmed by the National Test Laboratory (LNE, test report no. F014288) after testing a sample of prostheses. This feature guarantees optimal tolerance.
